Pakistan, China Reaffirm Commitment to Consolidate Relations

BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Director General, Department of Asian Affairs of Liu Jinsong has said that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China was a great success with fruitful outcomes, which provided new guidance for Pakistan-China relations.

“China is enthusiastic about working with Pakistan to take the premier’s visit as an opportunity to implement further the significant common understandings reached between leaders of China and Pakistan and maintain the momentum of high-level development of Pakistan-China relation,” he said. 

Liu Jinsong expressed these views during a meeting with the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Moin ul Haque, a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Liu Jinsong also briefed the Pakistani Ambassador on the key outcomes of the Central Economic Work Conference, stressing that China’s economy remained resilient with vitality and great potential, and the fundamentals sustaining China’s sound economic development, in the long run, remained unchanged.

Economic commitment

The Chinese official maintained that China had the confidence to manage the economic work well; would respond to the coronavirus pandemic, and pursue social development and economic in a well-coordinated way; efforts to expand local demand; do more to attract and use foreign investment, work with other countries to achieve common development, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and prosperity.

Ambassador Haque spoke highly of the development of China-Pakistan ties and said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s friendly and in-depth exchanges with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese officials during his visit to Beijing had injected strong momentum into the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan.

After the meeting, in a tweet, ambassador Haque said, “Always a pleasure to meet and interact with my Chinese friend DG Liu. In our meeting, we resolved to build on the consensus reached during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit and to further fortify Pakistan-China ties through future high-level exchanges.”
