BEIJING: Pakistan Health Service Academy, the Gansu University of Chinese Medicine, and the China Acupuncture Center and Clinical Lab in Islamabad have joined hands to train Traditional Chinese Medicine talents and promote TCM clinical diagnosis and cure in Pakistan.

Zhang from the Gansu University of Chinese Medicine said that starting from three-month or six-month training, the institutes would strive to provide education with TCM academic degrees in Pakistan.

She said that in addition to promoting TCM treatment, particularly acupuncture and moxibustion, the university would also help Pakistani regulatory officials push TCM legislation forward in the country.

She added that students would find opportunities for clinical practice at China Acupuncture Center and Clinical Lab in Islamabad.

China Acupuncture Center and Clinical Lab’s director Dr Ahmed said that since the Pakistani government approved the import of Chinese drugs in 2012, it had been gaining currency as its efficacy has been recognized by more people. In particular, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Chinese government’s donated drugs bolstered TCM’s reputation in Pakistan.

He said that the limited number of TCM practitioners in the country requires more training to be conducted to increase personnel in this field, as has been needed by Pakistan’s Ministry of Health.

He said that this would be the first systematic TCM training while his centre had been in the country for about 30 years.
