ASTANA: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted Pakistan’s unequivocal stance on the Palestinian situation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and SCO Plus Summits, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Addressing the summits, Prime Minister Shehbaz vehemently condemned Israel’s role in what he termed as the genocide of Palestinians.

He cited the International Court of Justice’s designation of Israel’s actions as war crimes against Gaza.

“Israel’s actions in Gaza are catastrophic, constituting war crimes,” the Prime Minister emphasized, calling for urgent global intervention to secure a ceasefire and ensure humanitarian access to Gaza.

Pakistan maintains that all longstanding disputes must be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions, Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed.

He deplored the loss of approximately 38,000 innocent lives in Palestine, mostly women and children, and highlighted the displacement of over two million Palestinians due to Israeli actions.

“Pakistan is in favour of a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state,” he reiterated.
