Pakistan Calls for Immediate Release of Kashmiri Hurriyat Leader Umar Farooq

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has called for the immediate release of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and an end to the use of force by Indian authorities in the occupied valley.

The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized the plight of Kashmiris who were unable to offer Eid prayers due to curfews and restrictions while Muslims around the world celebrated Eidul Azha.

Addressing the issue of terrorism, the spokesperson emphasized that it should not be exploited for diplomatic purposes and reiterated Pakistan’s stance that India has been involved in terrorist activities, as presented in relevant forums. Pakistan expressed its determination to resolve the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) through peaceful means.

Pakistan’s Strong Protest Against Desecration of Holy Quran

The spokesperson also raised Pakistan’s strong protest against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden. She also highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to negotiations with Afghanistan to address shared challenges, including terrorism.

The spokesperson provided an update on the identification of Pakistani victims in the Greece boat accident. Following post-mortem and DNA tests of 78 bodies, fifteen more Pakistani victims have been identified, bringing further closure to the families affected by the tragedy.

Pakistan’s call for the release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and an end to the use of force in Occupied Kashmir reflects the country’s ongoing concern for the rights and well-being of Kashmiris. The government continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
