ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has presented its statement before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) during the ongoing hearing regarding the Israeli brutal policies in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, a foreign ministry statement said on Friday.
It said that the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Ahmed Irfan Aslam led the Pakistan’s delegation to the hearing.
The statement said that delivering the verbal statement on behalf of Pakistan, the minister argued that Israeli occupation continued to severely obstruct the exercise of the right to self-determination by the Palestinians.
Aslam argued that Israel is trying to create irreversible facts on the ground and continue its illegal occupation of the Palestinian land and deny access to the Holy places in Jerusalem.
According to the statement the minister said Israeli policies and practices amounted to systematic racial discrimination and apartheid against the Palestinians. He said the ICJ would fail to fulfill its judicial obligations if it did not stop Israel from profiting “from its own continued grave wrongs.”
Palestinians facing brutal Israeli onslaught
The foreign ministry statement said the hearing comes at a time when the Palestinians are facing a brutal onslaught from the Israeli occupation forces. The government and the people of Pakistan continue to express their unwavering support to their Palestinian brothers and sisters at all international forums, including at the ICJ.
It said Pakistan has been calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, ensuring sufficient, sustained and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza, and the need for a comprehensive, just, and durable solution through the establishment of a sovereign State of Palestine on the basis of the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
