ISLAMABAD: A delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), headed by President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, visited Thailand to explore business opportunities.
The delegation, representing various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, construction, edible oil, marble, light engineering, hospitality, retail, importers, and exporters, met with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thai-Pakistan Business Council.
Speaking on this occasion, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari highlighted the potential for bilateral trade between Pakistan and Thailand, urging the exploitation of opportunities for mutual economic benefit. He acknowledged the current modest trade volume between the two nations but underscored the untapped avenues for growth and expansion.
Bakhtawari highlighted the complementary nature of Pakistan’s market, with over 240 million consumers and abundant resources in cotton, rice, and textiles, and Thailand’s strengths as a significant exporter of electronics, automobiles, and machinery.
Cooperation Between Pakistan and Thailand
He identified agriculture, textiles, and energy as sectors with great potential for trade collaboration, encouraging both countries to capitalize on these opportunities. Bakhtawari specifically noted Thailand’s expertise in the renewable energy sector and advocated for cooperation to meet Pakistan’s growing energy needs.
The purpose of the ICCI delegation’s visit to Thailand, he explained, was to engage with Thai counterparts, explore areas of mutual cooperation, and unlock new business opportunities for the prosperity of both nations.
Bakhtawari briefed the Thai counterparts on the investment potential in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy and extended an invitation for them to visit Pakistan to explore joint ventures and investment possibilities.
The Office Bearers of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thai-Pakistan Business Council welcomed the ICCI delegation, assuring full cooperation to promote business linkages and explore untapped areas of mutual cooperation.
