ISLAMABAD: Brazilian Ambassador to Pakistan Olyntho Vieira called on Caretaker Minister for Commerce, Industries & Production, Dr. Gohar Ijaz on Thursday.
During the meeting, both leaders recognized the potential to enhance the current trade volume of US$ 1.6 billion through increased cooperation, particularly in the value-added agriculture sector and textiles & garments.
Federal Minister Dr. Gohar Ijaz informed the Ambassador about the establishment of a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and its proactive efforts to attract Foreign Direct Investment in critical sectors such as Agriculture, Mining, Chemicals, and Information Technology.
Minister Gohar extended an invitation to Brazil to consider investing in Pakistan’s agricultural sector and offered opportunities for joint ventures with Pakistani companies. He emphasized Pakistan’s strong desire to collaborate closely with Brazil, a global leader in agriculture.

Investment in Pakistan Petrochemical Sector
The Minister also invited Brazil to explore investment prospects in Pakistan’s Petrochemical sector, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships. He conveyed that Pakistani business leaders are eager to engage with their Brazilian counterparts in Brazil.
Ambassador Vieira expressed a keen interest in enhancing business-to-business relations between the two nations and pledged full support for Pakistan’s initiatives within the Brazilian business community to strengthen trade ties.
He extended an invitation to Minister Dr. Gohar to lead a business delegation to Brazil, facilitating engagement with top businesspersons and senior government officials in Brazil. The goal is to promote collaboration and attract investment, particularly in the agriculture and petrochemical sectors.
