ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms across several regions of the country from June 3 to 9.

According to the latest weather forecast, moist winds are expected to enter northeastern regions, while upper areas will likely experience western winds starting Tuesday.

From tonight through June 5, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in areas such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, Chitral, Swat, Malakand, and Abbottabad.

Intermittent showers and possible hailstorms are also forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Mianwali beginning Tuesday evening. Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and other parts of Punjab are also likely to receive rainfall.

Strong winds and hail may impact parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southern Punjab as well.

Looking ahead, rain and gusty winds between June 7 and 9 could dampen Eid celebrations in several northern regions.

The farmers have been advised to plan their agricultural activities accordingly, while the general public, travellers, and tourists are urged to take precautionary measures during this period.

The PMD has also directed all relevant authorities to remain on high alert and take necessary steps to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier issued a weather advisory forecasting windstorms and rain-thunderstorms in upper and central parts of the country from May 27 to 31, with occasional intervals.
