Pakistan: Bilawal Bhutto Claims Victory in LB Elections

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed on Sunday that PPP is leading the 2nd phase of Sindh local body polls, local media reported.

PPP seemed to have swept the elections in Hyderabad as won over 726 seats while independent candidates secured 56 seats in the Hyderabad division, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

As per unconfirmed results, PTI bagged fifty seats while GDA could manage just eleven seats in the division of Hyderabad. Similarly, JI and JUI-F claimed ten and 5 seats respectively.

In a tweet, Bilawal Bhutto claimed that PPP has “swept” the local body polls in Sindh.

Local media reported that the results of the polls have not yet been finalized in most districts of Karachi. Ameer of JI’s Karachi Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman said that they would hold sit-in if the results of the elections were not announced on time.
