ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, border security, and police training.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between the Interior Minister of Belarus Ivan Kubrakov and Pkaistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral ties and matters of mutual interest, Radio Pakistan reported. The two ministers also held delegation-level talks.
They finalised an extradition agreement and signed a protocol for its implementation. Both sides also agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to further strengthen bilateral relations.
In addition, they decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future to enhance cooperation in counter-narcotics efforts and agreed to launch a police training exchange programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasised that Pakistan greatly values its relationship with Belarus and is committed to expanding cooperation across all sectors.
He welcomed the signing of an MoU between Belarus and Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, noting that it will open opportunities for thousands of Pakistanis to seek employment in Belarus.
The minister added that Pakistan will ensure that only the best, thoroughly screened manpower is sent abroad under this initiative.
The Belarusian Interior Minister said his country wants to promote cooperation with Pakistan in all fields. He said Pakistani people are known as a hardworking nation.
He invited Mohsin Naqvi to visit Belarus, saying it would help promote bilateral ties.
