Pakistan beat Switzerland by 10-1 Goals in Hockey 5s World Cup 2024

MUSCAT: Pakistan hockey team secured the ninth position in the ongoing FIH Hockey 5s World Cup 2024 after beating Switzerland by 10-1 in Muscat, Oman on Wednesday.

Pakistan Hockey Federation said in a statement that Pakistan’s Zikriya Hayat scored a hat trick, while captain Rana Abdul Waheed Ashraf, Arshad Liaquat, and Abdul Hanan Shahid netted two goals apiece. Ghazanfar Ali scored one goal.

Rana Abdul Waheed finished the event as the highest goal scorer with twenty-three goals. Pakistan was awarded the Challengers Trophy by the International Hockey Federation.

Sixteen teams, divided into four pools, featured in the event, with Malaysia and Netherlands advancing to the final to crown the first-ever men’s FIH Hockey 5s world champions on Thursday.

Pakistan in Pool A

Pakistan were in Pool A along with the Netherlands, Nigeria, and Poland.

The event is the first-ever Hockey 5s World Championship, organized by the FIH and played with a different format of 5 players on each side.
