The ICT administration also banned the use of bags in weekly markets, where stalls would be set up to sell biodegradable bags as replacements.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said that all wholesalers of Islamabad have also been banned from selling bags.

He said that special instructions had been issued to all assistant commissioners regarding the bags ban.

“There has also been a complete ban on bags in big stores,” he said asking citizens to use reusable biodegradable and cloth bags.
