Pakistan, Bangladesh Reaffirm Commitment to Deepen Political, Economic Ties

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister holds meeting with Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh at the UN

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Monday met with Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Md. Touhid Hossain, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political and economic ties.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the International conference on the Two-State Solution in the UN, their 4th meeting since October 2024, the Foreign Office said in a statement.

“The two leaders reviewed bilateral ties, reaffirmed commitment to deepen political, economic, and cultural cooperation, as well as boost connectivity and people-to-people exchanges. Both agreed to undertake high-level visits in the near future,” the Foreign Office statement added.

Expressing deep concern over the grave humanitarian crisis and ongoing Israeli aggression, both sides expressed unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and the just cause and hoped for meaningful outcomes of the conference.

Pakistan, Egypt review bilateral ties

Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar also met with the Foreign Minister of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, where the two leaders emphasised the importance of enhancing broad-based cooperation across various sectors, including medical, minerals, defence, trade, and investment.

“They agreed on the need to strengthen connectivity between Pakistan and Egypt to promote economic integration and facilitate greater trade. Both sides also agreed to undertake high-level exchanges in the near future,” according to a Foreign Office statement.

Appreciating the continued collaboration at multilateral fora, FM Abdelatty congratulated Pakistan on assuming the Presidency of the UNSC this month.

Reiterating their unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, the two Ministers underscored the urgent need for unimpaired humanitarian access, an immediate cessation of Israeli hostilities, and expressed hope for a meaningful and constructive outcome of the International Conference on the Two-State Solution.
