Pakistan, Bangladesh Pledge to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Senior military leaders of Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen cooperation in defence and security, Pakistan military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to the military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Md Faizur Rahman, Quarter Master General, Bangladesh Army, called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi.

“During the meeting, both sides discussed the prevailing security environment in the region and laid emphasis on shared resolve for enhancing existing cooperation in the defence and security domain,” it said.

Chairman JCSC highlighted the rising trajectory of bilateral relations between the two countries and identified new avenues of defence cooperation.

The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, it said.
