Pakistan, Azerbaijan Reaffirm Commitment to Enhance Defence Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening defence cooperation, with a particular focus on training, modernisation, and technical expertise.

The commitment was made during a meeting held on Tuesday in Islamabad between Pakistan Air Force chief Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and a high-level Azerbaijani defence delegation led by Deputy Minister and Director General of Defence, Agil Gurbanov, Radio Pakistan reported.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu highlighted the deep-rooted religious, cultural, and historical ties that form the foundation of the strong and enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the Air Chief provided an overview of various ongoing modernisation initiatives within the PAF, outlining its operational framework, strategic objectives, and future force structure, with particular emphasis on preparedness for future warfare.

He also reiterated the PAF’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Azerbaijan Air Force in enhancing its capabilities through capacity-building initiatives.

These include assistance in human resource development, maintenance systems, and operational training.

The visiting dignitary underscored the importance of joint training initiatives through bilateral exercises between the two Air Forces, emphasising that such collaboration would foster shared learning, enhance interoperability, and promote professional excellence.

He conveyed Azerbaijan’s keen interest in expanding cooperation in the realm of Multi-Domain Operations, noting that the Pakistan Air Force’s extensive operational experience serves as a valuable model.

He further expressed Azerbaijan’s strong desire to study and adopt the PAF’s comprehensive approach to Multi-Domain warfare in order to bolster its own operational capabilities.

He reiterated Azerbaijan’s intent to revamp its entire training system, beginning from the academy level, and acknowledged Pakistan Air Force as a trusted partner in guiding this transformation.

He expressed confidence that cooperation with PAF would significantly contribute to the modernization and professional growth of the Azerbaijan Air Force.

The visit of the Azerbaijani defence delegation reflects the mutual commitment of Pakistan and Azerbaijan to further deepen their strategic partnership, while reinforcing the shared aspirations for regional peace, security, and stability.
