ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reiterated their commitment to bolster cooperation in their respective audit institutions, aiming to exchange audit experiences, collaborate on IT and environmental auditing, and enhance human resource training.
This commitment was reaffirmed during a visit by a four-member delegation from the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Supreme Audit Institution Azerbaijan) to the office of the Auditor General of Pakistan (Supreme Audit Institution Pakistan).
Led by Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the delegation engaged in discussions focusing on the operations of SAI Pakistan, auditing performance, and collaborations with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), as well as the implementation of the Audit Management Information System (AMIS).
SAI Azerbaijan also shared insights into the activities of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan and advancements in Performance Auditing.
Having previously requested a peer review of their accounts for the year 2023, the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan received the peer review report from AGP Muhammad Ajmal Gondal during the visit.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan and his delegation met with the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
AGP Muhammad Ajmal Gondal and senior officers of AGP were also present.
The Chairman briefed the president about the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Supreme Audit Institution of Azerbaijan and SAI Pakistan.
President Alvi emphasized the importance of increased cooperation between SAI Pakistan and Azerbaijan to share best auditing practices, promoting transparency, and financial accountability. He commended the efforts of AGP in conducting peer reviews.
Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality and valuable insights provided by SAI Pakistan, the Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan conveyed his eagerness to learn from Pakistan’s rich audit experience and explore avenues for mutual benefit.
