ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army’s team has won the prestigious Gold Medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2025, held in Wales, United Kingdom, from 3 to 13 October, marking another proud achievement for the nation on the global military stage.

This year’s event marked the 66th edition of the renowned military exercise, which is recognised as one of the toughest tests of military endurance, leadership, and tactical skills in the world.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 137 teams from 36 countries participated in the exercise, which challenges soldiers to operate tactically across difficult and inhospitable terrain. Each patrol must cover approximately 60 kilometres within 48 hours, completing a series of military and specialist tasks under simulated combat conditions.

Pakistan Army’s team, led by Captain Muhammad Saad, demonstrated exceptional physical endurance, mental resilience, and tactical brilliance throughout the competition — earning top honours and securing the Gold Medal.

Olympics of military patrolling

Organised annually by the British Army, Exercise Cambrian Patrol is widely regarded as the “Olympics of military patrolling.” It assesses teams on navigation, leadership, teamwork, and their ability to perform under extreme conditions, with very few units achieving the Gold standard.

In a statement, the ISPR said the achievement was a matter of immense pride for the nation and the Pakistan Army, known for its professionalism, discipline, and operational excellence.

“This victory once again reaffirms the Pakistan Army’s high standards of training, endurance, and commitment,” the statement read. “The Army has always held the national flag high and will continue striving for excellence in the future as well.”

Pakistan Army’s continued success at international military competitions underscores its reputation as one of the most capable and well-trained forces in the world.
