RAWALPINDI: A soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred during the clearance of the Karakoram Highway near Gonar Farm, Chillas, which was blocked by a landslide on April 4, stated the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement released on Saturday.
According to the ISPR, on April 4, 2024, a landslide near Gonar Farm, Chillas, blocked the Karakoram Highway for all types of traffic. In response to aid the affected traffic and stranded individuals, a detachment of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), led by Naib Subedar Khalid and two soldiers, initiated a clearance operation.
During the clearance process, another slide was triggered, critically injuring the detachment. Tragically, Naib Subedar Khalid succumbed to his critical injuries and embraced martyrdom on April 6, 2024. Meanwhile, Sapper Waseem and Lance Naik Azmat are currently recovering from serious injuries.
