Pakistan Army Major, Soldier Martyred in Gun Fight with Terrorists

RAWALPINDI: An army major and another soldier were martyred in exchange of fire between Pakistani security forces and terrorists in Miran Shah area of North Waziristan District, a military statement said on Friday.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on reported presence of terrorists, in area Miran Shah.

It said during the army operation a party of terrorists was spotted and intercepted by Major Amir, who was leading the operation. Resultantly one terrorist was killed while another was injured.

However, during heavy exchange of fire, Major Amir Aziz (age 29 years, resident of Sargodha District) and Sepoy Muhammad Arif (age 27 years, resident of Sahiwal District) having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

Army’s media wing in the statement said the sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate the terrorists present in the area.

“Security Forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” ISPR said.
