ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has launched coordinated relief operations in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region following an earthquake, dispatching food, medical assistance, and other essential supplies to affected communities.
After the recent earthquake in the Chipurson Valley, the army initiated immediate relief operations from Sost town.

A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, claiming one life, injuring four others, and causing damage to dozens of homes, cattle sheds, and public and private properties.
The hardest-hit area was the Chipurson Valley in Upper Gojal, Hunza district, near the Pakistan-China border.
The tremor also triggered landslides that blocked the Karakoram Highway (KKH) and several other roads, disrupting movement in the region.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake occurred at 11:21 a.m. at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicentre located in northwestern Kashmir.
Officials said heavy landslides were observed in the mountainous areas immediately after the quake, with clouds of dust rising from the slopes.
