PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army killed at least 16 Afghan Taliban fighters in response to unprovoked aggression along the Pakistan-Afghan border, local media reported.

The conflict began on September 7 and continued until the evening of September 9, when the Afghan Taliban launched an unprovoked assault on the border. The Pakistani Army’s counteroffensive resulted in the deaths of 16 Taliban fighters, with 27 others injured. Additionally, two Taliban tanks were destroyed during the confrontation, say media reports quoting security forces sources.

Security sources reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance on border security, stating that any acts of aggression will be met with a decisive response.

The military’s prompt and effective retaliation underscores its commitment to protecting the nation’s borders from external threats.

The recent increase in aggression and border violations by the Afghan side has raised concerns about escalating tensions between the two countries.
