RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has emphasised the vital importance of integrity, professionalism, and patriotic commitment among the country’s future civil servants, underscoring their indispensable role in national development and governance, according to the military’s media wing on Friday.

He was addressing probationary officers from the 52nd Common Training Programme (CTP) of the Civil Services Academy (CSA) during an interactive session held at the Army Auditorium in Rawalpindi.

The event formed part of a broader national initiative aimed at deepening mutual understanding and fostering institutional synergy between Pakistan’s civil and military leadership.

The Field Marshal spoke at length about a range of pressing national concerns, including internal and external security challenges, national security imperatives, and the pivotal role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in preserving regional peace and national stability.

Underscoring the need for inter-institutional cohesion, mutual respect, and a unified national vision, the Army Chief highlighted the strategic foresight and unity of purpose needed across institutions to advance Pakistan’s developmental goals. He specifically praised the role of a “capable, transparent, and service-driven” civil bureaucracy in the architecture of state governance, terming it “indispensable” to good governance and long-term national resilience.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the CTP officers had been attached with various formations of the Pakistan Army, including those stationed in operational areas of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, as well as peace-time locations. During these attachments, the young officers gained valuable insights into the operations and ethos of the armed forces through engagements with all three services.

The participants expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to interact with senior military leadership and to gain first-hand exposure to the Pakistan Army’s strategic vision, operational readiness, and its multifaceted contributions to national development and disaster response.

The session concluded with a lively question-and-answer segment, reflecting a spirit of constructive dialogue, shared responsibility, and collective dedication to Pakistan’s enduring progress.

This engagement comes as part of the Army Chief’s wider efforts to strengthen inter-institutional coordination. In recent weeks, he has repeatedly acknowledged the strategic vision of the political leadership, particularly in the wake of regional tensions. Notably, on June 18, he met with US President Donald Trump in a landmark high-level meeting — the first such interaction between a sitting US president and the top Pakistani military leadership — further underlining Pakistan’s efforts to build diplomatic and institutional bridges at home and abroad.
