RAWALPINDI: The 96th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China was celebrated at the GHQ, Pakistan on Wednesday, with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir as the Chief Guest, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.
The event was attended by Pang Chunxue, Chargé d’Affaires of the embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché, Chinese Embassy officials, and officers from the tri-services of Pakistan.
Strategic Partnership Between Pakistan and China
Speaking on the occasion, the Chinese Chargé d’Affaires expressed gratitude to COAS for hosting the event and emphasized the enduring nature of the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. He noted that this strong bond had withstood the test of time and various changes in the international landscape.
The Chargé d’Affaires further highlighted the recent milestone of jointly celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and praised the successful visits by COAS and other military leaders to China. These visits have significantly strengthened the relationship between the two militaries, fostering greater cooperation and understanding.

Addressing on the occasion, COAS General Syed Asim Munir congratulated the People’s Liberation Army on its 96th Anniversary and commended its vital role in China’s defense, security, and nation-building efforts. He emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China, stating that the bilateral relationship was unique and robust, demonstrating remarkable resilience in the face of various challenges.
“Pakistan-China relationship is unique and robust that has proven its resilience in the face of all challenges,” COAS said while highlighting various facets of the enduring partnership between the two nations, their militaries, and their people.
He further expressed the strong bond between the PLA and the Pakistan Army, describing them as “brothers in arms” whose cooperation would continue to contribute significantly to safeguarding their collective interests.
The event commemorated the PLA’s 96-year journey, reflecting the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and China, and reaffirming their commitment to further strengthen their ties for the mutual benefit of both nations.
