LAHORE: Pakistan Tuesday appointed former Test spinner Tauseef Ahmed as interim head of the men’s national selection committee following Inzamam ul Haq’s resignation due to allegations of a conflict of interest.
The immediate task at hand for the committee is to select the squad for the upcoming Test series against Australia scheduled for December-January.
Inzamam stepped down from his role as chief selector amidst allegations of his association with a UK-based players’ agent company.

In his statement, Inzamam expressed his willingness to allow the PCB to conduct a transparent inquiry into the conflict-of-interest allegations reported in the media. He stated that if the committee finds him innocent, he will resume his duties as chief selector.
After Inzamam’s resignation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) established a five-member fact-finding committee to investigate the allegations related to the team selection process’s conflict of interest. The committee was initially given a deadline of November 6 to submit their findings, but as of now, no new deadline has been announced.
Earlier in the day, PCB Director for Media and Communication Alia Rasheed informed a news channel that one of the committee members would temporarily assume the role of chief selector.
