SOFIA: Pakistan and Bulgaria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Maritime Cooperation, solidifying their collaboration in the field of maritime affairs. The signing ceremony took place in Sofia at the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Bulgaria.
Ambassador Mariam Madiha Aftab, representing Pakistan, signed the MoU, while Hristo Alexiev, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport and Communication of Bulgaria, signed on behalf of Bulgaria, a press release issued on Monday stated.
The MoU aims to expand and deepen cooperation between the two countries on maritime transport matters. It also seeks to facilitate communication between the relevant bodies dealing with maritime affairs, promote private sector awareness and cooperation, create mutually beneficial economic opportunities, and encourage investments in this important field.
Relations Between Pakistan and Bulgaria
Following the signing ceremony, Ambassador Mariam Madiha Aftab expressed her satisfaction with the milestone achievement, highlighting that it further strengthens the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bulgaria. She emphasized that the MoU will enable the authorities of both countries to establish fruitful collaboration.
The ambassador also mentioned that last month, the two countries held the fifth round of Bilateral Political Consultations, during which various proposals for collaboration in diverse fields were discussed.
In addition to the signing of the MoU, the Ambassador held a separate meeting with the Minister of Transport and Communication of Bulgaria. The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance collaboration between the respective ministries of the two countries.
