Pakistan Allocates PKR 14.34 Billion to Health Sector Under PSDP 2025–26

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s federal government has allocated PKR 14.34 billion for the health sector under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2025–26.

According to the official budget document, this funding aims to strengthen healthcare infrastructure nationwide, with an emphasis on disease surveillance, preventive care, maternal health services, and emergency response systems.

Key allocations include PKR 4,000 million for the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre in Islamabad, and PKR 1,000 million for the Prime Minister’s national program focused on eliminating Hepatitis C.

Additionally, PKR 2,000 million has been set aside for the development of an Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response System (IDSRS). For cancer care, PKR 1,701 million has been allocated for establishing a cancer hospital in Islamabad, alongside PKR 900 million for procuring medical equipment for the facility.

Another PKR 900 million has been designated for the creation of a stroke intervention unit and the expansion of critical care and cardiac services at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
