Islamabad: Chairman Nepra Taseef H. Farooqui has said that like the developing world, Pakistan needs to support and work on environment-friendly energy sources.
Talking via a webinar titled “Geothermal Energy – Technical Review and Potential.”, here on Friday, the chairman said that the webinar’s major goal was to raise participants’ understanding of geothermal energy, technical breakthroughs, and its potential in Pakistan. The webinar was attended by a considerable number of Nepra officials, electricity industry stakeholders, and university representatives.
In his introductory remarks, Chairman Nepra stated that, because this is a unique technology in Pakistan, the globe has to develop similar solutions to meet the aims of zero carbon emissions as well as dependable and inexpensive power generation. “Let’s get to the action”, Chairman Nepra went on saying that Pakistan is a privileged country with enormous potential in this field that has to be realized.
Taking part in the discussion, Ms. Amanda Kolkar, International Research Scientist and Geothermal Laboratory Program Manager at NREL, delivered a thorough presentation on geothermal energy, technical breakthroughs in the sector, its potential in Pakistan, and recommendations for utilizing the current capabilities.
