ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday issued a travel advisory warning Pakistani nationals to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran due to ongoing unrest and escalating security risks.

The advisory follows nationwide protests in Iran, now in their 13th day, triggered by rising living costs and calls to end the current regime.

“For their safety and security, Pakistani nationals are advised to avoid all unnecessary travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran until conditions improve,” the ministry said in a statement.

Demonstrations have occurred in Tehran, Mashhad, Tabriz, and Qom, while the government has imposed a nationwide internet blackout, which human rights groups say is intended to conceal the scale of violence.

The advisory urged Pakistanis currently residing in Iran to exercise extreme caution, remain vigilant, limit unnecessary travel, and stay in regular contact with Pakistani diplomatic missions in the country.

“Pakistani nationals currently residing in Iran are urged to exercise extreme caution, remain vigilant, minimize non-essential travel, and stay in regular contact with the Pakistani Missions,” the Ministry said, providing contact details for embassies and consulates to assist nationals in Iran.
