ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has abolished the mandatory requirement of a Covid-19 vaccination certificate for next year’s Hajj pilgrims. The Ministry made the announcement of Religious Affairs from its official X account.
The mandatory requirement of showing a Covid-19 vaccination certificate for the Hajj pilgrims in 2024 has been abolished, the Ministry announced.
Meanwhile, the number of intending Hajj pilgrims under the government scheme dropped to a record low level, according to media reports. The banks have received only six thousand applications from intending pilgrims across the country in 6 days.
Pakistan Government’s Hajj Scheme
Pakistan’s fifteen nominated banks will receive applications till the last date of 12 December 2023. A total of 89,605 Pakistani nationals will perform Hajj under the government Hajj scheme. Balloting will be conducted in case there are more applications than the pilgrims’ fixed number.
Applications can be submitted on the passport that will be valid till 16 December 2024. The applications could also be processed on the passport application’s token.
The government has fixed twenty-five pilgrims’ quota for the religious journey under the sponsorship scheme on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
