KARACHI: Pakistan batted at 181-4 before lunch on the final day of the first Test of two-match series against New Zealand at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
The hosts, who earlier resumed their second innings at an overnight score of 77-2, now hold a lead of 7 runs. Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell clinched early wickets for New Zealand as Pakistan continued to lose wickets on day 5.
Hosts need to bat out day five to avoid defeat
In order to avoid a defeat, Pakistan will have to bat out the last day after the Kiwis gained the upper hand on Thursday, declaring their first innings at 612-9 as Kane Williamson brought up his fifth double-century in Test cricket.
New Zealand is playing its first Test series in Pakistan in 20 years.
