KARACHI: At 203-5, Pakistan finished the second session of Day 1 of Karachi. Agha Salman was batting at 1, while Babar Azam was still going strong at 71.
Pak vs England
After choosing to bat first and winning the toss, Pakistan lost both of its openers, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood. But Azhar Ali, who is taking part in his final Test match, and Babar Azam had given the team some stability. Azhar, however, was unable to leave a lasting impression during the first innings of his final game, falling for just 45 just before lunch.
Batting first
The third and final Test of Pakistan’s three-match series against England saw Pakistan win the toss and decide to bat. The National Bank Cricket Arena (National Stadium) in Karachi is where the match is being held. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, stated after the toss that his team would “strive to score and put pressure on them.”
Team changes
Two changes were made to England’s starting XI for the final Test, even though they had already won the series with a commanding 2-0 lead.
Rehan Ahmed, who is of Pakistani descent, was substituted for Will Jacks to start his Test career. Rehan makes test debut history as the nation’s youngest Briton. Additionally, James Anderson, a seasoned pacer, was replaced by Ben Foakes.
Azhar Ali, a veteran Pakistani batter who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Friday, is one of four changes to the home team. Imamul Haq (injured), Mohammad Nawaz, Zahid Mahmood, and Mohammad Ali won’t be on the field today, but Shan Masood, Mohammad Wasim Junior, and Nauman Ali do.
Today marks Wasim’s Test debut, who joins a group of Pakistani athletes who have played for their nation in each of the three main cricketing formats.
