POTCHEFSTROOM: England defeated Pakistan by 53 runs in their second ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup group match on Tuesday at the North West Cricket Stadium, Potchefstroom, South Africa.
England posted a decent 157 runs target on the scoreboard and restricted Pakistan to 103 runs in the total 20 overs.
Captain Syeda Aroob Shah scored an unbeaten 34 runs off 36 balls for the green shirts. She hit four boundaries for 34 runs inning.
However, she was the only batter who could play a significant inning as the England bowlers did not allow Pakistan batters to settle at the crease.
Opening batter Shawaal Zulfiqar gathered 23 runs in 30 balls.
Sophia Smale secured two wickets for England, while Grace Scrivens and Hannah Baker took a wicket each.

Earlier, the England team posted a decent target of 157 runs for Pakistan on the scoreboard in 20 overs.
Seren Smale and Ryana MacDonald-Gay were the top performers for England with the bat, as they scored 37 and 35 runs, respectively.
Opening batter Grace Scrivens scored 24 runs, while Charis Pavely and Niamh Holland gathered 13 runs each.
Zain-un-Nisa, Anosha Nasir, and Areesha Noor claimed two wickets each for Pakistan, and Rida Aslam took a wicket.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan secured a victory in the opening match with Rwanda.
Pakistan will next take on Zimbabwe in their last group match on January 18.
