ISLAMABAD: Chargé d’Affaires of the US embassy in Islamabad Andrew Schofer has said that the United States considered the US-Pakistani diaspora as a crucial partner in humanitarian, social, and commercial sectors in Pakistan.
He said this during the US-Pakistani Diaspora Engagement Conference being organized by the United States held here in Islamabad on Tuesday.
In his speech, Schofer highlighted the long-lasting history of the United States and Pakistan working together to improve Pakistan’s economic growth and solve development challenges.
He emphasized opportunities for the future partnership while adding that as the green revolution advanced lives in the past, a green alliance between the two countries will help to jointly strengthen climate resilience, grow clean energy alternatives, and foster economic development.
Pak, US Diaspora Conference
The Pak, US Diaspora conference displayed key contributions and investments by the US-Pakistani diaspora in humanitarian, social, and commercial sectors and discovered venues for future joint engagements.
In his remarks, USAID Mission Director Reed Aeschliman said that the gathering provided an opportunity to mention some of the contributions and investments already made by the Pakistani diaspora, expedite collaborations between Pakistani diaspora entities and explore a road map for collective action to address the current humanitarian and social challenges in Pakistan.
Over 100 participants attended the gathering, including members of the US-Pakistani diaspora, and prominent local business representatives.
Later, USAID signed two partnership memoranda of understanding with US-Pakistani diaspora entities, the first one with Datarocx to set up digital centers in Pakistan in the Special Technology Zones and the second one with Global Semiconductor Group and HUM Network Limited for Pakistan Katalytic Fund to advance access to growth capital for established businesses in the technology sector.
