Pak-Japan Ties: Japan Announces Award For Pakistani Diplomat

ISLAMABAD: Japan has announced the 2023 “Spring Conferment of Decorations” for Imtiaz Ahmad ex-Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan in recognition of his contribution and services to strengthen bilateral ties and promote friendship between Pakistan and Japan.

According to a statement issued by the Japan Embassy in Pakistan, the former diplomat will be decorated with “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star.

The former ambassador had served as a diplomat in Japan four times and had held almost every post from young envoy to the Ambassador in Japan.

Imtiaz Ahmad has also acquired a broad knowledge of Japanese language, history and culture, which led to his important contribution to the enhancement of Pak-Japan ties in many fields.

In addition to his regular diplomatic service, he has made a great contribution to the people of Japan.

While paying tribute to Imriaz, the embassy of Japan said, during his service as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan, the Great East Japan Earthquake took place on March 11, 2011.

After the quake, the former ambassador reached out to the Pakistani community in Tokyo and visited the quake-hit areas with them every weekend to serve Pakistani food and also distribute relief items.

His presence with the quake-hit people was highly praised by the Japanese and Pakistani media.
