ISLAMABAD: In a bid to fortify their collaborative efforts in curbing cross-border crime, Pakistan and Italy have vowed to enhance cooperation between their interior ministries.
This significant development emerged following a productive meeting between the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan in the capital, Islamabad.
During the discussions, Rana Sanaullah emphatically emphasized the need to deter illegal entry into European countries, advocating for the denial of refuge and the repatriation of such individuals to their respective homelands. He also underlined the importance of actively engaging with nations responsible for issuing visas to these individuals, ensuring that the issue is brought to their attention, according to state media.
In response, the Italian Ambassador extended his appreciation for the invaluable contributions of the Pakistani community within Italy. He assured the minister of expediting the resolution of visa-related challenges faced by Pakistani citizens, showing Italy’s commitment to facilitating smoother processes for their entry into the country.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Italy, as both nations recognize the pressing need to collaborate closely in tackling the growing menace of cross-border crimes.
