OTTAWA: The Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa and the Consulates General in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver also observed “Kashmir Black Day,” shedding light on the atrocities committed by Indian forces in the Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

The events featured photographic exhibitions that poignantly depicted the suffering endured by the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation and drew the participation of the Pakistani community in Canada.

High Commissioner Zaheer A. Janjua, in a video message delivered on the occasion of “Kashmir Black Day,” expressed unwavering support and solidarity for the Kashmiri people. He highlighted the unrelenting spirit of the Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for the right to self-determination despite the oppressive presence of Indian occupation forces.

High Commissioner Janjua reiterated that the resolute struggle of the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination has unequivocally demonstrated that India’s use of brutality and military might cannot suppress the unwavering determination of the Kashmiri people. He underscored Pakistan’s commitment to providing moral, diplomatic, and political support to the legitimate Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.

In addition, High Commissioner Janjua emphasized the historical significance of October 27th, marking the day when Indian forces entered the valley against the will of the Kashmiri people. He strongly condemned the ongoing and relentless use of force by the Indian Occupation Forces, as well as the illegal steps taken by India since August 5, 2019, which include the imposition of a strict curfew and complete lockdown in the IIOJK.

High Commissioner Janjua stressed the importance of the international community’s intervention, urging it to demand India’s compliance with its international obligations in alignment with the UN Security Council’s resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

To further express their solidarity with the Kashmiri people, members of the Pakistani community and Kashmiris joined together in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver to organize protests and rallies in front of the Canadian Parliament. The Consuls General in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver also arranged seminars and webinars to shed light on the human rights situation in IIOJK and discuss the significance of ‘Kashmir Black Day.’ These collective efforts aimed to draw attention to the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the long-standing issue of Kashmir.
