ISLAMABAD: Sun Weidong, the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Thursday termed the China-Pakistan friendship ”unbreakable” and stated that both sides had consistently stood by each other in difficult times and will continue to cooperate “collectively” to safeguard their shared interest in addressing global challenges.
In an exclusive interview with the PTV news channel, he stated, “The leadership of both sides pledge to continue the mutual understanding by supporting traditional friendship to promote peace in the region.” He added that the friendship between the two countries will be passed down from generation to generation and won’t be shaken or altered. He described China and Pakistan as unique and established all-weather strategic cooperating partners.
He said the Pakistan-China friendship is strong than rocks and higher than mountains. In response to a query, he stated that both governments had decided to work together to enhance the transport, industry, and agricultural sectors.
He added that cooperation and investment will be increased nationally, and the less-developed and marginalized areas will be prioritized. He said that China and Pakistan were the most reliable good neighbors, good brothers, and friends to each other.
In response to a different question, he said that He Lifeng’s recent visit ” reflects the priority” of the two countries devoted to furthering their bilateral ties. He Lifeng is the deputy premier and special presidential envoy of China.
He said that the CPEC had brought additional billions of dollars in Chinese investment to Pakistan, helping to build power plants, the strategically positioned deep-water port of Gwadar in Pakistan, and transportation infrastructure.
“Over the past decade, CPEC has produced positive results and established a new standard for the friendship between China and Pakistan as an important pioneering project of the BRI,” he continued.
He said the CPEC projects ” are blooming across Pakistan,” making a “concrete contribution” to regional connectivity and national growth. —APP
