Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference on Nov 29 in Johannesburg

ISLAMABAD: The third Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition, organized by the commerce ministry, will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday (tomorrow), November 29.

The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement, the conference would be followed by the exhibition from November 30 to December 1.

Officials and businessmen from 16 member states of South African Development Community (SADC), representatives of The Southern African Customs Union (SACU), and SADC secretariat have been invited to attend the events.

Around 130 Pakistani companies from different sectors will have the opportunity to exhibit their products on the occasion.

The aims of organizing the mega-event are showcasing Pakistan’s exports sector to SADC members, to provide opportunity for government to government, business to business and government to business meetings.

It will also help to create awareness in the Pakistani businessmen about the opportunities they can grab in SADC member states.

The Initiative to Support Establishing Banking Channels, Increase Business Opportunities

The initiative would help in establishing banking channels, to develop linkages with regulatory authorities, to explore joint ventures opportunities and increase the volumes of trade in goods as well as services.

Around 225 businessmen and exhibitors from 20 major sectors in Pakistan have reached Johannesburg to attend the conference and exhibition. Their sectors include textile and apparel, rice, fruits and vegetables, processed goods, spices, sports goods, surgical tools, pharmaceuticals, cement, salt, paints and chemicals, articles of leather, footwear, tractors etc.

The Ministry of Commerce launched Look Africa Policy in 2017-18 to increase focus on African countries and consolidate commercial relations. – APP
