ISLAMABAD: A pair of storms is likely to cause rounds of drenching rain to parts of the south-eastern and south-central United States into the coming week, weather reports suggest.
Both storms could trigger flash flooding, and cause travel problems besides isolated severe weather. The storm likely in the next week has also the potential to unleash severe thunderstorms over a larger area, AccuWeather meteorologists have warned.
The initial storm caused thunderstorms and rain along the Interstate 10, and 20 corridors Saturday. More moisture will be pulled into the storm as it moved to the northeast. The added moisture may cause rain to ramp up in intensity farther to the east across Georgia to northern Florida and the Carolinas on Saturday night and Sunday.
During this time span, thunderstorm activity may increase to the point where a few towns and towns could experience locally strong wind gusts and flash flooding.
Weather forecast
A general one-two inch of rain will fall from southern Alabama to areas of the coast of the Carolinas and Georgia mainly from Saturday night through Sunday. Rainfall of this intensity could lead to water accumulating in poor drainage localities, trigger rises for some small streams, and create large puddles on area highways, forecasters have said.
