PAF Chief, Chinese Ambassador Discuss Geo-Strategic Environment, Regional Developments

ISLAMABAD: China’s Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Wednesday called on Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. 

During the meeting held at Air Headquarters, they discussed matters related to the evolving geo-strategic environment and regional developments, said a press release.

In the inclusive meeting, both dignitaries emphasized the need to revitalize the framework for operational training across all domains, stressing the paramount importance of preparedness and seamless coordination in addressing evolving security challenges.

The statement further read that the Chief of the Air Staff outlined the broad contours of PAF’s modernization drive, aiming to transform the Pakistan Air Force into a Next Generation Air Force. This involves the induction of niche technologies with a special focus on indigenization and the restructuring of training programs. 

Underscoring the enduring strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, the Air Chief expressed the desire to deepen aviation cooperation and exchanges in human resources and technology to jointly address shared security challenges.

He reiterated Pakistan’s appreciation for its strong diplomatic, economic, and defense ties with China, based on convergence on key regional issues related to peace, security, and stability.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong commended Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and praised the PAF leadership’s commitment to maintaining a balance of power in the region. Both dignitaries highlighted the necessity for enhanced collaboration in Cyber, Space, and Electronic Warfare domains, emphasizing cutting-edge niche technologies.

They expressed a firm commitment to fostering bilateral and multilateral operational exercises to strengthen collective responses to emerging threats in the region.
