ISLAMABAD: Pakistan pacer Muhammad Shahzad couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at India’s Dinesh Karthik after leading Pakistan to a historic sixth Hong Kong Sixes title, making them the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
The victory capped an impressive campaign for Pakistan, who claimed the title for a record sixth time, surpassing England and South Africa, both with five titles.
After a rain-affected opening loss to arch-rivals India, Pakistan bounced back to dominate the rest of the competition.
They defeated South Africa, Australia, and Kuwait, the latter by 43 runs in the final, to secure the trophy.

Shahzad, known for his light-hearted personality, celebrated the triumph by mimicking Hardik Pandya’s iconic trophy lift celebration.
However, the cheekiest moment came on social media, where Shahzad took a playful dig at Karthik, who had earlier posted: “Fun start to Hong Kong Sixes. Winning against Pak.”
In a twist of fate, while India’s campaign unravelled after that victory, with Karthik’s side losing every subsequent match and exiting the tournament early, Pakistan continued their dominance.
They went on to win every game after the initial rain-impacted loss and cruised to the final, ultimately lifting the trophy with ease.
Shahzad couldn’t help but enjoy the irony, later posting on social media: “Fun end to the Hong Kong Sixes. Business as usual.”
