Over 60pc Candidates Fail Written Test for Foreign Posts

ISLAMABAD: The authorities met a shock when they found more than 60% of the candidates fail in the written tests for 40 posts of commercial officers to be appointed in other countries by the government of Pakistan, local media reported on Friday.

The surprising results showed that 61.45 applicants failed the written test for the positions of sales clerks. It was found that only 101 out of 262 candidates passed the written test while 161 candidates were declared failed.

All candidates from the Secretariat, Trade Promotion Services and Economist groups failed the written test, while the highest number of candidates, 35, were declared successful from the Trade and Commerce group.

The highest percentage of successful candidates was 56.6% who belong to Pakistan Administrative Service while all five candidates from Secretariat and four candidates from Trade Promotion Service and Economist Group failed the test.

35 out of 56 candidates from the Commerce and Trade Group passed the test and 21 were declared unsuccessful.

Only 30 out of 87 candidates from the Inland Revenue Service Group remained successful and 57 failed the test.

From Pakistan Customs, 14 out of 51 candidates passed the tests while 37 were declared failed. From Pakistan Administrative Service, 13 out of 23 candidates passed the test and 10 remained failed.

Only five of the 16 candidates remained successful in the Office Management Group written test and 11 remained unsuccessful. One of the three candidates declared successful from Pakistan Audut and Accounts Service.

Only two of the 11 candidates were declared successful from the private sector. Interviews and IQ tests will be conducted for those who pass the written tests.
