ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Education Ministry on Monday informed the country’s National Assembly that over 26.2 million children are out of school across Pakistan.
According to details submitted by the Education Department, overall 26,260,520 are deprived of education in Pakistan.
The report added that over 17 million children between the ages of 5 and 9 are not enrolled in schools. Similarly, around 4.9 million children between the ages of 10 and 12 are deprived of middle school education and out of school.
Furthermore, over 2.1 million boys and around 2.8 million girls have no access to middle school education. The report submitted to the National Assembly noted that 4.5 million children are deprived of high school education in the country.
According to the report, 5.9 million students have no access to higher secondary education.
Meanwhile, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui told the National Assembly that 20 Pink Buses have been allocated to provide free-of-cost pick-and-drop facilities to female students, working women, and female teachers in Islamabad.
He was responding to a question during Question Hour in the National Assembly on Monday. The Minister further said at present there are 311 operational buses to provide pick-and-drop facilities to the students of the federal capital.
