RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Commerce on Monday said that more than 234 million commodities and food products were supplied to pilgrims at the holy sites during this year’s Hajj season.
The programme was implemented in coordination with multiple government agencies and the private sector.
Among the most in-demand items were juices and soft drinks, dairy products, bottled water, baked goods, canned foods, and a variety of essential food and consumer goods.
To ensure adequate supply for pilgrims, the ministry’s inspection teams began monitoring efforts ahead of the season, conducting visits to retail outlets to confirm the availability of necessary products.
In addition to overseeing supply chains, the ministry conducted supervisory inspections of commercial establishments, retail points, and stalls to ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations.
