TORKHAM/CHAMAN, Pakistan: The repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals and other foreigners in Pakistan continued with force, as 226,349 individuals returned to their respective countries during the nationwide operation.

The apex committee of the National Action Plan (NAP), chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, set a deadline of October 31 for all foreign nationals residing illegally to leave voluntarily or face deportation.

Official data reveals that the repatriation includes over 18,000 families, with 535 families returning in the last 24 hours alone, utilizing 236 vehicles to return to Afghanistan. The government of Pakistan is actively facilitating the repatriation process at the Torkham and Chaman borders.

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti emphasized that there should be no mistreatment of illegal immigrants during the repatriation process, reiterating clear instructions from the Prime Minister.

He assured the Senate that any border mismanagement would be addressed, welcoming suggestions from political leadership. Bugti clarified that Afghan refugees with legal documents have not faced any issues during the repatriation efforts.

The concerted repatriation initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to addressing illegal residency and ensuring compliance with national regulations.
