ROME: Italian police said that over 100 women had been murdered in the country this year so far, with almost half of them killed by their intimate partner or ex-partner.

Police on Friday released a report to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The police report lists the names and details of the death of the 95 women killed during the period from January 2022 to November 7, 2022.

The victims include a 27-year-old girl, Carol, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. Her ex-boyfriend hit her with a hammer and dumped her body off a cliff.

On Friday, Giorgia Meloni, Italian Prime Minister, said that the government was committed to fighting gender-based violence in the country.

Shockingly, according to the Italian Statistics Institute (ISTAT), 31.5 percent of women in Italy have suffered sexual or physical violence, and 5.4 percent of women have been victims of serious kinds of sexual violence, such as rape.
