JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that over 1.2 million pilgrims from 109 countries have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah since the start of the season on Dhu Al-Hijjah 15 until the end of Muharram 30.
The ministry noted a 30% increase in the number of Umrah performers entering the Kingdom on Umrah visas compared to the same period last year, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
Additionally, the number of Umrah visas issued saw a 27% increase, while over 4,200 contracts were signed between Umrah companies and international agents, boosting operational readiness to accommodate pilgrims.
The Ministry had earlier announced the commencement of the Umrah season on Dhu Al-Hijjah 14 AH, with visas being issued through the Nusuk platform.
This marks a new phase in facilitating pilgrim services and reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing development in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
According to the Ministry, the rising demand for Umrah follows a successful Hajj season, which was characterised by coordinated performance, streamlined procedures, and enhanced technical infrastructure.
It added that preparations for the new Umrah season began well in advance, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
The ministry also expanded awareness content and digital services in different languages, showing the Kingdom’s leadership in serving visitors to the two holy mosques and ensuring the highest levels of comfort, safety, and satisfaction for worshippers.
