LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi said that the eighth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches would be played in Lahore on Sunday and Monday while consultation on other matches is underway.
Speaking to a private news channel on Saturday, Sethi said that the first two matches of Pakistan Super League 8 would be played at Gaddafi Stadium as scheduled, while other matches would be decided later.
It should be remembered that PCB and the caretaker government of Punjab have hit a roadblock in a financial dispute over the security cost for the PSL matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Punjab govt demands Rs500 million for PSL matches
The interim Punjab government had demanded Rs500 million from PCB to hold the matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore. The board has already paid Rs50 million to the Punjab government for expenses on food.
The provincial government now demands the remaining Rs450 million for lighting and security purposes. In order to save these expenses, the board is now considering shifting the Punjab leg of PSL 8 to Karachi.
According to media reports, the caretaker government’s negotiating team will meet the PCB officials again today, and the meeting will likely be held at the Gaddafi Stadium shortly.
