JEDDAH: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the UN General Assembly’s adoption of 5 critical resolutions on Palestine and the Middle East, comprising a text that calls on Israel to stop all actions aimed at changing the demographic composition in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

UN Resolutions

The General Assembly has adopted resolutions related to the mandate of Palestinians and the work of the Committee on the Rights of the People of Palestinians, the Division of Palestinian Rights in the United Nations, the media plan on the Palestinian cause, and the fundamental principles of a peaceful solution of crisis to the Palestinian cause.

It also adopted a resolution to celebrate Nakba Day, when Palestinians were cast out from their residences in 1948 following the foundation of Israel. Palestine, The Permanent Observer for the State, said during the discussion that Israeli exceptionalism has only emboldened Israel’s worst instincts, a UN Assembly noted.

Today the Assembly will acknowledge the historical injustice that befell Palestinian people, adopting a resolution that has decided to observe the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Nakba in the Assembly Hall, it added. The OIC praised the countries’ positions contributing to sponsoring and supporting these UN resolutions through international law.
