JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) extends its support and appreciation for the Republic of South Africa’s legal action filed at the International Court of Justice, addressing the alleged genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. In response to the suit, the OIC underscores the severity of Israel’s indiscriminate targeting of the civilian population, resulting in the loss of thousands of Palestinian lives, predominantly women and children.

The OIC emphasizes that the widespread atrocities, including killings, injuries, forced displacement, denial of basic necessities, and destruction of crucial infrastructure, collectively amount to a mass genocide orchestrated by Israel, the occupying power. This assertion aligns with the international community’s concerns about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

In a firm stance against these grave violations, the OIC urges the International Court of Justice to promptly address the matter and implement urgent measures to halt the ongoing mass genocide perpetrated by the Israeli defence forces. The organization underscores the importance of holding those responsible accountable and safeguarding the rights and well-being of the Palestinian people.

As South Africa takes this significant step to seek justice on the international stage, the OIC calls for collective efforts to address the humanitarian crisis and put an end to the human rights abuses that have plagued the region for far too long.
